Infectious

PART ONE

It started that Friday morning. Rohan wasn't at the bus stop, and when the bus went past his house, there were emergency vehicles parked up outside. I was worried, he hadn't been feeling well since Roger dared him to lick those test tubes during the museum field trip. I tried telling him there was no knowing what they were used for, but he said he couldn't back down from a dare. Now he was missing school because of it.

I knew something big was up when Rohan wouldn't answer his phone. Even if he didn't respond right away, I'd at least see the blue tick next to the message to prove he'd read it. The entire school day went by and not a single read message or notification from him. I even tried face-timing him and nothing. Well, not exactly nothing. The dial tone ended early, as if he'd declined my call.

So on the way home, I decided to get off the bus early and walk over to his house. All the hubbub from the morning was gone, which was a relief. I ran up to the front door and Rohan's mom answered. Except, she seemed distracted. When I asked to see Rohan, she dismissed me, saying that he'd caught something, and she didn't want it to spread.

But I couldn't take no for an answer, he was my best friend! So I crept around the back of the house, and clamored up the big tree in the yard. This wasn't my first time sneaking in, after all. Lucky for me, he'd even kept his bedroom window open so I didn't have to do my secret knock.

I stumbled through the window in a less than polite fashion and brushed myself off. "Rohan?" I asked aloud. I heard the door to his wardrobe shut and hangers clang together. Amused, I laughed, "Why are you hiding?"

"Go away!" He seethed. He sounded weird, like he had a cold. His voice deeper than usual. "You can't be in here!"

"No way!" I replied. "I gotta know what's wrong. I saw all the vans outside your house this morning, your mom wouldn't let me in, you won't even answer my texts. You promised we'd never keep things from each other."

"I want to tell you, really. But..." He sighed. "This is bigger than you know... I can't bring you into this."

"Fine. Don't tell me. I'll just find out why my best friend is hiding like a baby some other time." I grumbled and stomped toward the window when I had an idea. I waited a few moments before slamming the window down hard. Then I ducked down and hid as best as I could behind the bed and held my breath. Poor, gullible guy. He didn't even wait a minute until he opened his closet door and slunk out with a sigh. We locked eyes almost instantly, and he knew he was busted. But I was the one who screamed out loud, because that man wasn't my friend.

Spectacular Hair Growing Miracle

James was a little worried about his son. He'd received a package in the mail, whereupon he immediately ran upstairs with it and to the bathroom. At his age, it was probably best not to ask any questions or interrupt under most circumstances. Boys will be boys, after all. But then he could hear him cussing out loud, even from downstairs. It sounded like whatever he'd bought, it wasn't going the way he wanted. It was probably another of those cheap doohickeys from that dumb online shopping app everyone seemed to be into these days. He didn't care for it, of course. A lot of the cheap tat on there was either faulty or fake. It's too good to be true, he always said, because there was always a reason for the price.

As James walked upstairs, he noticed that the bathroom door wasn't properly closed, there was a slither of a gap. Outside the bathroom, he could hear the shower running, his son groaning and cursing under his breath. He always tried to give his son some privacy, but he also had to make sure he wasn't in any trouble. So James rapped on the bathroom door. "You okay in there, Duncan?" he asked.

He heard him grunt in surprise, followed by the sound of scrambling hands and bottles. Eventually, Duncan yelled back, "everything's peachy! Don't come in!" Yet his voice sounded scratchy, gravelly even. As if he'd caught a cold. The shower turned off, and there was more of that whispered cussing that sounded unusually deep as it echoed around the bathroom walls.

"I wasn't going to!" James replied. "But if there's something you want to talk about, you know I'm here." Even if it was embarrassing, he couldn't leave him injured or in pain.

There was a few seconds pause before Duncan finally replied, "Fine... Just don't look until I tell you to." James pushed the door open slowly, his hand covering his eyes, and stepped inside. He could see Duncan's feet as he stood in the shower entrance. But they looked bigger, swollen even. They led up to a pair of hair-covered legs that he couldn't remember his son ever having. A towel hung loose against his knees, flapping as it unfurled and assumedly wrapped around his waist. Duncan let out a heavy sigh. "Okay," he grunted. "You can look, but don't be mad..."

James uncovered his eyes, and jolted back in surprise, slamming his back into the now shut door. Instead of the husky, young teen he was expecting to see, he was faced with a burly, hirsute, middle-aged man.  There was a guilty look on his rounded face. Yet despite the salt and pepper beard, and the weathered skin, and the completely bald scalp, he could make out a strong familial resemblance. As if this man could have been his uncle. And yet, his gut told him otherwise.

"Okay, I know this looks bad," the man grumbled as he sheepishly rubbed his scalp. Which had to be the biggest understatement. It looked like his son had been replaced by a man far older, far hairier, and far huskier than even himself. The man could sense James' apprehension, and added, "Let me explain everything!"

No Refunds

It was an unusually quiet day in the store. So quiet, I actually had time to finish the crossword in the newspaper without a single disturbance. I suppose money is tight nowadays. But even the reliable window shoppers hadn't turned up. I was considering closing up early when the bell above the door tinkled. Finally, a customer.

"Hey! I've got a bone to pick with you!"

I frowned. A customer. There goes my quiet afternoon... I turned around to see a stout man with a round, bearded face striding towards me with a sour expression. "Ah, Mr. Grant," I chimed pleasantly. "How lovely it is to see you again." The man paused mid-stride, clearly surprised that I remembered him. But it's my job to remember every single person that enters through those doors, regardless of current appearances. It still gave me a smug feeling every time, however. I asked him, "What appears to be the problem."

Grant snapped out of his stupor, and grunted. "Isn't it obvious? Look at me!" He waved his hands up and down his bulky body.

"Yes, you're a man now, just like you wanted." Grant was a young lad the previous day, just on the cusp of pubescence. Like many of the youths who enter the shop, he was desperate for a means to grow up, to become an adult. And like many of them, I had exactly the means to do so. In Grant's case, I had a box of aging cream I was just about to throw away before he turned up. I thought it was luck, although it appears things have turned sour... I switched tactics, and said with a sly wink, "And might I add, you've grown into quite the handsome gentleman."

"Shut up!" He growled, slamming a carrier bag down onto the counter with a sharp thud. So much for sweet talk. "I'm not handsome, I'm old! This isn't what I wanted at all! I want a refund."

Man Flu

Rohan whimpered as his mom pulled the thermometer out of his mouth. She studied the end before tutting and shaking her head. "It's ninety-eight degrees. That's normal, you're perfectly fine."

"But moooom," he whined, his voice unusually deep and husky for a twelve-year-old. "I don't feel good! Even my throat hurts." He coughed meaningfully, as if to prove his point.

"But nothing! What you have is a case of the man-flu. Now get ready for school."

As his mom left him to get ready, Rohan only dug himself further under the bed covers. He felt awful, and it hurt that his mom didn't believe him. Sure, there had been times in the past that he may have faked a flu to get out of school. And he did have an exam to take, one he hadn't prepared for. But he really wasn't faking it this time. He may not have a temperature, or clogged sinuses, or even a runny nose, but that didn't mean he wasn't actually sick!

The Injection

I had been feeling pretty down since my best friend, Ted, moved away to military school a few weeks ago. It was so sudden, I just went to his house one day and his parents told me he wasn't there. I haven't even had any contact with him since apparently they don't allow any communication with outsiders. It sucked so much! Then one day while I was home alone, I heard a knock at the door. I answered it, only to be immediately assaulted by a huge man in dark clothes. He put a rag over my mouth and I felt dizzy. He dragged me to a nearby van and threw me into the back. He called out to the driver "Yo, this the kid?".

The driver turned towards me and his eyes lit up with recognition. "Yeah that's the one. Good job". He looked a bit familiar but I lost consciousness before I could figure it out.

When I came to, I was laying on a lumpy bed in a sterile white room. There was nothing else in the room, and only one exit which was locked. I sat around for what felt like hours, trying to make sense of the situation, before the door finally opened and the driver walked in. His clothes were skin-tight, I could see every contour of his muscular body. I felt too intimidated to talk until he knelt down in front of me and put a comforting hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off and yelled "Why am I here!?".

He stared me in the face and said "They wanted you for an experiment".

"Why me?" I asked.

He sighed and replied "I'm so sorry, they said I had to choose someone or else they'd take it away from me and I can't let them do it".

"Who's they? What will they take? Why?".

The man raised an eyebrow and said with surprise "You really haven't guessed? Do you know who I am?".

I stared into his strong, stubbled face and saw that familiarity again. But I shrugged and replied "I dunno, are you Ted's uncle or something?".

He smiled softly and said "Something like that. Look, all I have to do is give you this injection and it will all be explained. Don't worry, everything will be fine".

I eyed the door and wanted to make a break for it but I knew there was no chance I'd escape. And even if I did, what would I do? I didn't even know where I was. I teared up and sniffed, begrudgingly nodding as he pulled out a needle filled with a lucid green liquid. He swiftly jabbed it into my arm and left the room before I could say anything else. Left to my own thoughts again, I thought about Ted. Maybe he ended up in the same position as I was in now, injected by his uncle. What if something went wrong and that's why I hadn't seen him in weeks, that he was killed and his parents made up the military school story?

I was feeling queasy now and my body was aching all over. It felt like I was having multiple growing pains at once. In fact, I could actually see myself growing! I told myself that was impossible but I watched dumbstruck as my limbs painfully stretched like taffy while my torso jolted upwards like a jack-in-the-box. I ripped my clothes off as they were too constricting, revealing my cock hadn't been left out of the game. My groans of pain suddenly dropped a few octaves as my adam's apple jolted out. I had stopped growing taller now and was experiencing a whole new kind of pain as I exploded with muscle. My arms inflated with dense mass while my thighs swelled out to inhuman proportions. My chest expanded and my stomach deflated with every deep breath I took. I was gritting my teeth and tears streamed down my cheeks, just wishing it would stop. Luckily, the process seemed to slow down allowing me time to focus. I laid on the floor covered in sweat and breathing heavily while I tried to make sense of what had happened. A final shiver through my spine signalled the end, all that pain just vanished.

I eventually stood up, feeling a lot heavier than normal, and ran my large hands over the huge mounds of muscle I'd acquired. I stroked my face, feeling rough stubble covering my round cheeks. I was unpleasantly surprised as I move my hand up and felt a smooth scalp. Every single hair had fallen out in clumps splayed across the floor. I was both terrified and amazed at how I'd grown, but I knew I couldn't stay in the room any longer, I needed to find answers. I turned the door knob and found it unlocked. I briskly walked through a small passageway, opening into a tiled room. Inside, I came face-to-face with the driver who was waiting for me. I yelped and hid behind the wall in embarrassment, only to see he was just as nude as I was. He threw a bottle of murky liquid at me and said "Drink this, you'll need it after what you went through". I gulped down the contents in no time, wincing at the terrible taste. He smiled understandably and continued "You're really going to feel it tomorrow morning, I could hardly move for days after my injection".

My eyes widened and I exclaimed "They did this to you too?".

He chuckled and said "Of course! I really thought you'd of figured it out by now, I mean we haven't seen each other for weeks".

It finally clicked in my head and I said "Ted? Ted! But how?".

He leaned against the wall and crossed his arms casually. "My parents signed me up to a specialised military programme that wanted to make the perfect soldier. I went in thinking it'd be an intense training programme but they totally Marvel'd it. One moment I'm a short, pudgy weakling and the next I'm this huge, muscled stud! They ran some tests afterwards and declared me a success. Everything was fine but they wanted more test subjects. Nobody else was signing up. Eventually, they threatened me with a downgrade if I didn't find someone else, I wouldn't of brought you into this otherwise".

I looked down at my perfectly sculpted body and said "No, I'm glad you did. I mean it was a horrid and scary experience but the results... Damn, it's just incredible, we're just like Captain America! But..." I rubbed my smooth head.

He laughed and said  "Oh it's just a side effect of the injection, it'll grow back along with the rest of your body hair. Though I like being smooth all over, just accentuates the muscle you know?". He flexed his body as if to prove it.

I leaned against the wall and said "So what now? Is there an initiation or lecture or something?".

"Well they'll want to run a few tests to make sure you're as perfect as me, but I do have a little initiation of my own". He grabbed his swelling cock, giving me a sultry smirk.

I grinned and turned back down the corridor, calling back to him "I know where there's an empty room".
